What is Peer Counselling ?
* Peer Counselling is a support process in which individuals are trained in basic counselling skills, help others with regard to educational, emotional, social, behavioral… and issues related to life. It involves participants arranging to meet regularly in pairs to give each other one-to -one counselling, in turn taking the role of counsellor and client, with equal amounts of time allocated to each other.

Who is a Peer/Friend ?
* A friend is one who shares related values, experiences and lifestyle and is of approximately the same age experiencing similar developmental and socio-emotional issues. Friendship is a form of interpersonal relationship generally considered to be closer than association, although there is a range of degrees of intimacy in both friendships and associations. Friendship and association are often thought of as spanning across the same continuum.

Who is a Peer Counsellor ?
* A person who assumes the role of a counsellor in helping others who shares related values, experiences and lifestyle and is of approximately the same age. Peer Counsellors are non professional who provide counselling skills to aid friends. Peer counsellors may either assist or work independently of professional counsellors. Peer support is also used to refer to initiatives where colleagues, members of self help organizations and others meet as equals to give each other support on a reciprocal basis. Peer in this case is taken to imply that each person has no more expertise as a supporter than the other and the relationship is one of equality. A peer has "been there, done that" and can relate to others who are now in a similar situation.
