Guest lecture on Contemporary Corporate Practices by Ms Anitha Francis
Date: 18th November 2016
A guest lecture on Contemporary Corporate Practices from an Organizational Behaviour perspective was held on 18th November, 2016. The lecture was conducted by Mrs. Anitha Francis who has several years of experience in the corporate field as an HR and in other related departments. Currently, she is an employee counselor at IBM, Bangalore.
The lecture gave an insight to the students about the real practices in the corporate world - a perspective different from the usual textbook notions. She spoke about the different roles of HR Managers and the overlap of roles and responsibilities among departments. She also explained the role of a counselor or a psychologist in the corporate. Mrs. Francis emphasized on the current practices related to counseling in the corporate set-up, giving especially an example of IBM and its structure. The crux of the information provided was that all organizations follow a different structure and there are no fixed roles and responsibilities with respect to HRs. It may differ from one organization to another. So does the role of a counselor or a psychologist in the corporate field.
The lecture was helpful in giving a practical knowledge about how things work in the corporate and how, we as students of Psychology, can mould and package ourselves to fit in this field.
